We all have features that we want to highlight and features that we would rather not draw attention to! As a beauty specialist and make-up artist, it’s my job to make my clients feel good and bring out the best in their features and their confidence.
…I do this by applying the right amount of make up in the right place and sometimes, less is definitely more! Anyone who takes a look at my hot pink gel nails will see what a fan I am of bright and bold colours – I love experimenting with colour and do encourage my clients to try out new looks, especially if they have a shorter, new hair style, or brighter hair colour that means they can get away with stronger make-up. But I do encourage my clients to try make-up that brings out their natural beauty, and that really does mean something different for everyone. Smaller, close-set eyes need different make-up to larger, wide set eyes.
I might use a different tone of red for ‘statement lips’ on thinner lips than the tone I would use on fuller lips. I might use a coral tone on darker skin and a pink blush on paler skin to get a naturally flushed look. Dark smoky eyes might be perfect for some clients but totally wash out another client’s complexion. Finding the right base to match the skin tone and the right tone of natural blusher can bring wonders to reviving any complexion, for a natural and flawless look that works well for the daytime and can easily be vamped up for an evening party look.
The result is a polished complexion without looking heavily made-up. These are tricks that no woman can do without! I’d love to see the results – how have you worked your make-up magic to bring out the best in your clients?
